How does it work?

Whey protein is the protein powder of choice for many athletes, gym users and dieters. However, most protein powders are flavoured with safe, but artificial sweeteners. In contrast, Promax Natural is comprised of the highest quality whey protein, with no added flavourings or sweeteners, making it a genuinely natural whey. As such, Promax Natural delivers a neutral tasting powder with an extremely bio-active amino acid profile, rich in essential amino acids and low in fat. Promax Natural is popular with anyone wanting to supports muscle growth, preserve muscle tissue, and boost immune health. Promax Natural can be added to your food recipes without affecting their palatability with cheesy aftertastes – Promax Natural is the ultimate in pure, high quality whey isolate protein.

How does it work?

Protein supplements are generally composed of two main types of protein, namely Whey or Casein. Both Whey and Casein are milk proteins (cheese is made from casein, where as whey is the protein separated during cheese production). Whey protein powder is derived from liquid whey, and can be specially formulated to contain specific concentrations of protein fractions.

The latest scientific research suggests that natural whey protein supplements have superior muscle building, performance, immune and anti-catabolic effects compared to Casein. Canadian researchers have reported that whey protein supplements boosts athletic performance significantly more than casein, in addition to increasing perceived energy levels and fat loss [1].

As a muscle boosting agent, natural whey protein supplements have been demonstrated to have far superior protein synthesising effects compared to casein [6], which is good news for individuals training for muscle mass or dieters needing to maintain muscle tissue on low calories diets.

In addition, European scientists have discovered the cortisol lowering effects of whey protein powder [7]. Cortisol is the primary stress hormone in the body, secreted by the adrenal glands when faced with psychological (such as dieting) or physical stress (such as regular training). Unfortunately, cortisol increase muscle catabolism (breakdown) and inhibits muscle growth. It is speculated that cortisol control is one of a multitude of factors which makes whey such a potent muscle growth promoter.

While natural whey protein powder is considered a better quality of protein than casein, there are also significant differences between whey protein grades, commonly whey concentrate, isolate and hydrolyzed whey protein. Whey isolates contain more protein and fewer carbohydrates and fat compared to a concentrate. In addition, hydrolysates are special protein fractions that are ideal to consume after exercise or to instantly increase protein synthesis, since they are pre-digested and create a very fast increase in amino acid availability.
